The present invention is concerned with a banner support assembly adapted to be mounted on a supporting member for purposes of engaging and holding taut an elongated banner. The banner support assembly comprises i) a first banner mounting assembly adapted to be mounted on the supporting member and projecting therefrom, said first assembly comprises a first elongated arm and a first co-extending elongated banner mounting member adapted to engage a first banner extremity; ii) a second banner mounting assembly adapted to engage a second banner extremity, said banner mounting assembly being adapted to be mounted on and projecting from said supporting member in a spaced and substantially coplanar relation with respect to said arm and said banner mounting member; and iii) a tensioning mechanism resiliently connecting said banner mounting member to said arm, said tensioning mechanism being adapted to provide an adjustable radial spacing between said arm and said banner mounting member. The tensioning mechanism may be user adjusted to increase or decrease said radial spacing, in turn increasing or decreasing the spacing between said banner mounting member and said second banner mounting assembly.
