ABSTRACT A new locking hand tool is disclosed which is infinitesimally adjustable as to the gap between the jaws. It has an adjustable jaw and a movable jaw. It is capable of being operated with one hand. The infinitesimally adjustable locking hand tool comprises: 1) a movable jaw and an opposing adjustable jaw, 2) a fixed handle including adjustment means, and a movable handle and lever-locking means therebetween for establishing and maintaining a toggle relation between the jaws when in a closed position, 3) an extension bar at a fixed angle to the fixed handle, 4) means for supporting and moving the movable jaw along the extension bar and means for holding it securely at any point, whereby a user can clamp on and hold a workpiece securely with the use of one hand, The preferred hand tool has a channeled support holding the movable jaw to one face of the extension bar and holding a spacer member to the opposite face of the extension bar. The preferred spacer member is circular. Also preferred is an arcuate corner at the end of the movable jaw, whereby it can be fixed at any point along the extension bar by gravity. Further preferred is an adjustment screw in the channel of the fixed handle cooperating with a toggle locking lever. The preferred hand tool has the fixed angle of the extension bar with the fixed handle of about 90 degrees, jaws defining a C- clamp comprising swivel pads, a releasing lever pivotably mounted on the movable handle, a limit stop at the free end of the extension bar, and a bolt and wing nut for replacing one size extension bar with another size or for substituting a new extension bar for a broken one.
