ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bark shredder with a rotor, wherein shredding takes place by the action of cutting blades mounted with pivot pins on the rotor and of counterblades fixedly mounted on a stator. With a view to obtaining a bark shredder which is insensitive and needs to be serviced infrequently, the rotor carries integrally mounted impact blades located before the cutting blades in the direction of travel of bark through the shredder for breaking up stones or the like mixed with the bark.
