BARREL FOR A PRE-STRESSED SPIRAL SPRING AND ITS APPLICATION IN A SAFETY BELT WINDER, IN PARTICULAR FOR A GROUND MOTOR VEHICLE A B S T R A C T The barrel comprises a pre-stressed spiral spring which arms the barrel and further comprises a housing (100), a rotatable hub (200) and the spring (300) which is wound around the hub and anchored to the latter and to the housing. The barrel includes between the hub and the housing an anti-return device (400) which only allows a relative rotation between the hub and the housing in a single direction and is so arranged as to be movable between a first position in which it only allows said relative rotation in the single direction and a second direction in which it allows rotation in both directions. The device is accessible from outside the housing for the purpose of shifting the device from one to the other of its positions. Application in ground motor vehicle safety belt winders.
