Improved oxygen barrier and oxygen absorbing compositions and structures comprising blends of xylylene group-containing polyamides and cobalt octoate and xylylene group-containing polyamides, polyesters and cobalt octoate are disclosod and claimed. These blends have superior barrier properties and clarity obtained by controlling the degree of orientation and the amount of cobalt. These novel blends are used as single layers and as the core layer (16) in multiple layer structures, the adjacent layers (12, 20) are comprised of polyesters and or polyamides. Each layer in the multiple layer structures can optionally be bonded together by the use of an adhesive or the layer (14, 18). The structures made from blends of the present invention have a clarity that is superior to structures previously known in the art.
Compositions de barrière à l'oxygène absorbant l'oxygène et structures comportant des mélanges de polyamides contenant des groupes xylyléniques et des polyamides contenant l'octoate de cobalt et des groupes xylyléniques, des polyesters et de l'octoate de cobalt. Ces mélanges présentent d'excellentes propriétés de barrière et une transparence obtenue par régulation du degré d'orientation et de la quantité de cobalt. Ces nouveaux mélanges sont utilisés sous forme de couches uniques et sous forme de couche centrale (16) dans des structures multicouches, les couches adjacentes (12, 20) étant composées de polyesters et/ou de polyamides. Dans les structures multicouches, les différentes couches peuvent éventuellement être collées ensemble au moyen d'un adhésif ou d'un couche de liaison (14, 18). Les structures obtenues à partir de mélanges de l'invention présentent une transparence supérieure à celle des structures connues.
