ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE BARRIER POLYMERS The present invention relates to gas barriers comprising at least one layer of an amorphous polyamide derivable from a nylon salt formed from aromatic dicarboxylic acids and diamines characterised in that a) the aromatic dicarboxylic acids comprise isophthalic acid and at least one other aromatic dicarboxylic acid selected from terephthalic acid, 4,4'-dicarboxy biphenyl and 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid, and b) the diamine comprises meta-xylylene diamine, the polyamide being a barrier against oxygen and/or carbon dioxide.
