23940-461 Abstract There are disclosed novel salts of the compound known under the generic name omeprazole, having the formula Image (i) with Li+ , Na+ , K+ , Mg2+ , Ca2+ , Ti4+, N+(R1)4 or Image as cation, process for preparation thereof and pharmaceutical compositions containing such salts. The salts which exhibit improved storage stability than the neutral form of omeprazole are useful for inhibiting gastric acid secretion and for providing gastrointestinal cytoprotective effects in mammals and man.
