The present invention provides a long-chain polyether polyol having a number average molecular weight of more than about 1,200 g/mole and produced by alkoxylating an initiator with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a basic catalyst having at least one cation thereof chelated with about 0.5 to about 20 wt. % of a polyoxyethylene-containing compound having a molecular weight of less than about 10,000 g/mole, wherein the weight percentage is based on the weight of the long-chain polyether polyol. The long-chain polyether polyols of the present invention may find use in providing flexible polyurethane foams and non-cellular polyurethanes.

La présente invention concerne un polyol de polyéther à longue chaîne présentant un poids moléculaire moyen en nombre supérieur à environ 1 200 g/mole et produit par alcoxylation d'un initiateur avec un oxyde d'alkylène en présence d'un catalyseur basique dont au moins un cation est chélaté avec environ 0,5 à environ 20 % en poids d'un composé contenant un polyoxyéthylène, lequel composé présente un poids moléculaire inférieur à environ 10 000 g/mole, le pourcentage en poids étant basé sur le poids du polyol de polyéther à longue chaîne. Les polyols de polyéther à longue chaîne de la présente invention peuvent être utilisés pour former des mousses souples de polyuréthanne et des polyuréthannes non cellulaires.
