The present invention provides a long-chain polyether polyol having a number average molecular weight of greater than about 1,200 g/mole and produced by alkoxylating an initiator with an aikylene oxide in the presence of a basic catalyst having at least one cation thereof chelated with a non-linear polyoxyethylene- containing compound having a functionality of at least about three. The long-chain polyether polyols of the present invention may find use in providing flexible polyurethane foams and non--cellular polyurethanes.

La présente invention concerne un polyéther polyol à longue chaîne comportant une masse moléculaire moyenne en nombre supérieure à environ 1 200 g/mol et obtenu par alcoxylation d'un amorceur avec un oxyde d'alkylène en présence d'un catalyseur basique dont au moins un cation est chélaté avec un composé non linéaire contenant du polyoxyéthylène présentant une fonctionnalité supérieure ou égale à trois. Les polyéthers polyols à longue chaîne selon la présente invention peuvent trouver des utilisations dans le domaine des mousses souples de polyuréthanne et des polyuréthannes non cellulaires.
