This invention is a base which can be used as a planter or as a supporting base for other objects such as tables, benches etc.. The base is made of wall sections fitted into posts, and is held together by cross members connecting the posts together under tension. The base can be made to be easily assembled and disassembled ie; collapsible, by inserting a turnbuckle in one of the cross members such that tension can be easily applied or withdrawn. The base can be made in a variety of shapes depending upon the number of wall sections used. Many different materials and textures can be used to make the base, depending on the properties required. The base can also be made to accommodate placement on irregular and inclined surfaces. The base when used as a planter will normally have a shelf which is supported by the cross members.
