Abstract of the Disclosure Base plate of track chains of track chain type vehicles for providing increased floatation. The base plate is connected by means of screw bolts or the like with the chain brackets of the track chain. The base plate has a counter support for receiving the screw bolts or the like integrally formed with an elongated plate-type synthetic body, the lugs of which extend on both sides of the counter support in the longitudinal direction of the plate. The lugs taper from the counter support to the lateral edges of the base plate. The base plate is formed as a one-piece synthetic molded body and the counter support consists substantially completely of rubber elastic webbed polyurethane. The cross section of the counter support of the base plate is rectangular or almost rectangular and is designed massively to resist deformation, whereas the two lugs are designed to bend toward the chain brackets, the base plate has at least one insert extending in the longitudinal direction of the plate, the insert is of a flexible material, the bending module of which is substantially greater than that of the rubber elastic webbed polyurethane.
