ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This disclosure depicts a novel base-socket system for a color television picture tube. The tube socket is illustrated as comprising:a support means with a series of channels for mating with a plurality of insulating walls on the base; an array of contacts for establishing electrical connection with a plurality of pins on the base; first and second grounding means wherein the first grounding means is associated with air spark gaps for a high-voltage pin contact and a mid-voltage pin contact, and wherein the second grounding means is associated with air spark gaps for low- voltage pin contacts; and finally, a housing, which encases the support means and has ridges which mate with a wall on the support means, wherein the wall extends around the high- voltage air gap in order to contain ionized gases. -1-
