A dual polarization base station antenna producing a beam having 3dB azimuth beamwidth of E(theta) within 5° of the 3dB azimuth beamwidth of E(phi). The antenna also maintains E(theta) and E(phi) within 3dB of each other over a wide beamwidth up to 120° and over a wide bandwidth of 30% of the center frequency. The antenna achieves these performance characteristics through beam shaping structures connected to or located near the ground plane supporting the dipole antenna elements. By adjusting the locations and shapes of the beam shaping structures, specific antennas are designed to meet these design characteristics for different desired beamwidths, including 45° 60° 90° and 120°.
L'invention porte sur une antenne de station de base à polarisation double produisant un faisceau ayant une largeur de faisceau azimut à 3dB de E(thêta) à l'intérieur de 5° de la largeur de faisceau azimut à 3 dB de E(phi). L'antenne maintient également E(thêta) et E(phi) à l'intérieur de 3 dB l'un de l'autre sur une largeur de faisceau large allant jusqu'à 120° et sur une largeur de bande large de 30 % de la fréquence centrale. L'antenne obtient ces caractéristiques de rendement par des structures de mise en forme de faisceau connectées ou situées à proximité du plan de sol portant les éléments d'antenne dipolaires. Par l'ajustement des emplacements et des formes des structures de mise en forme de faisceau, des antennes précises sont mises au point pour satisfaire à ces caractéristiques de mise au point pour différentes largeurs de faisceau voulues, comprenant 45°, 60°, 90° et 120°.
