Where directional transmissions are to be made by multiplexing users in the CDMA communications, a phase offset for setting the antenna balance adaptively is determined. Therefore, the antenna elements for giving the maximum or minimum amplitude are reliably dispersed for the individual users. As a result, uneven amplitude distribution biased to a specific antenna element can be corrected to further lighten the load on a transmission amplifier.
