This disclosure relates to substantially atactic polymers of at least one of propylene, 1-butene or 1-pentene, processes for making such polymers and compositions including the polymers. The polymers may be used as lubricants or may be combined with low viscosity base stocks to form lu-bricants. The polymers may be made in the presence of a metallocene catalyst with a non-coordinating anion activator and optionally with hydrogen.

Cette invention concerne des polymères sensiblement atactiques constitués d'au moins l'un des composés suivants : le propylène, le 1-butène ou le 1-pentène; des procédés de fabrication de ces polymères; et des compositions comprenant ces polymères. Les polymères peuvent être utilisés comme lubrifiants ou peuvent être associés avec des huiles de base à faible viscosité pour former des lubrifiants.
