An on-machine-seamable papermaker's fabric that does not require the weaving of a complete base fabric having a length and a width specified by a papermaker is disclosed. The on-machine-seamable papermaker's fabric has a base structure which is a flattened array of spirally wound multicomponent yarn. The flattened array has two layers, two sides, a length, a width and two widthwise edges. In each turn of the spiral winding, the multicomponent yarn has a substantially lengthwise orientation and is joined side-by-side to those adjacent thereto by a fusible thermoplastic material in each of the two layers. The multicomponent yarn forms seaming loops along the two widthwise edges. At least one layer of staple fiber material is needled into one of the two sides of the base structure and through the two layers.
L'invention concerne un tissu de papetier pouvant être cousu sur machine présentant une structure de base laquelle est constituée d'une disposition aplatie d'un fil multiconstituant enroulé en spirale. La disposition aplatie présente deux couches, deux faces, une longueur, une largeur et deux bords en largeur. Dans chaque tour de l'enroulement en spirale, le fil multiconstituant présente une orientation sensiblement longitudinale et il est joint côte à côte à ceux qui lui sont adjacents par une matière thermoplastique fusible dans chacune des deux couches. Le fil multiconstituant forme des boucles de couture le long des deux bords dans le sens de la largeur. Au moins une couche de matière en fibres synthétiques coupées est aiguilletée dans une des deux faces de la structure de base et à travers les deux couches.
