Abstract of the Disclosure A cationic azo dye of the formula Image (I), wherein n is 0 or 1, Z represents a divalent radical which completes the ring A to form a 5- or 6-membered ring which can carry a fused and substituted or unsubstituted benzene ring and contain nitrogen, oxygen and/or sulphur atoms as ring atoms, Y represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl radical or preferably a hydrogen atom, X ? represents an anion, R1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl radical, R2 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or benzyl radical, R3 represents a substituted or unsub- stituted alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical, R4 represents a group -1- of the formulae -CN, -CONR5R6 and -COOR7, wherein R5 and R6 represent hydrogen atoms or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radicals, and R7 represents a substituted or un- substituted alkyl or aryl radical, and R8 represents a substi- tuted or unsubstituted alkyl or benzyl radical. The new dyestuffs dye polyacrylonitrile fibers in fast yellow shades.
