ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The object of this invention is a process for the manufacture of a basic detergent for liquid lyes. According to this process, an excess of a dicarboxylic aliphatic acid is reacted with a primary, secondary or tertiary aliphatic amine or aliphatic amino-alcohol. The detergent obtained is practically non-toxic.
