ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel basic monomer or the fornula (A): Image (A) wberein R1 is a bydrocarbon group bavlng 2 to 20 carbon atom, is round to be prepared by reacting an amine of the formula (B): R-NH2 with divinylbenzene in the co- presence of an alkall metal amido of the formula (C): R-NHM (wherein M is an alkall metal) corresponding to said amine. This monomer can be polymerizod according to conventional addition polymerization method to give a basic polymer with polymerlzation degree of 15 to l0,000 which has excellent sadimentation effect.
