Abstract of the Disclosure Novel basic zinc phosphites are described for use as tannin stain inhibitors which can be represented by the formula; X ZnO?ZnHPO3 wherein X is a number from 1/2 to 10. The basic zinc phosphites are prepared by admixing zinc oxide and phosphorous acid in the presence of water.
