A basketball return device includes a circular mounting ring having an internal diameter larger than the external diameter of a basketball. The mounting ring is adapted for attachment to a basketball goal. A basketball return track is attached to and extends beneath the mounting ring. The basketball return track has a first portion substantially perpendicular to the mounting ring and a second portion meeting a remote end of the first portion and sloping angularly away from the mounting ring. The length of the first portion is greater than 4/6 and less than 5/6 the external diameter of a basketball such that a basketball is confined between the mounting ring and the second portion of the basketball return track until the basketball has fully engaged the basketball return track.
