A basketball rim assembly includes an anchoring plate having a mounting means, aback plate, a support member, a rim and a locking mechanism. The anchoring plate is removably attached to the back plate by the mounting means, and the locking mechanism, comprising of a cam assembly, locks the back plate to the anchoring plate allowing for the safe and easy removal and placement of the rim.
