Silver-tin alloys may be separated by galvanic means from a cyanide-free bath, which is prepared using silver in the form of a nitrate or diammine complex, tin in the form of soluble tin(II) or tin(IV) compound and mercaptoalkane carboxylic acids and mercaptoalkane sulphonic acids. Uniform and tenacious deposits can be separated from silver-tin alloys with a silver-content in the approximate range of 20% - 99% by weight from this bath.
