Abstract of the Disclosure The object of the invention is a bathtub with profiled backrest arranged with an average inclination of about 50 to 55°, which has, at a distance above the bottom, a basin surface with inward-facing concavity and in the region of the rim of the basin a neck surface with inward-facing convexity, the basin surface and the neck surface being con- nected with each other by a back surface of double curvature which consists of a section with inward facing convexity adjoining the basin surface and a section of inward-facing concavity passing into the neck surface. In order to create a bathtub with improved sitting and lying comfort and two backrests, the following features are proposed: a) that the basin surface (12) have a radius of curva- ture (KR1) of about 120 mm, b) that the section of the back surface with the in- ward-facing convexity which adjoins the basin surface (12) have a radius of curvature (KR2) of about 300 mm and that its highest point lie at a distance c of about 180 mm above the bottom (11), c) that the lower tangent of contact of this section of the back surface extend at an angle of about 67° to the horizontal, d) that the section (13) of the back surface having the inward-facing concavity which passes into the neck sur- face (14) have a radius of curvature (KR3) of about 2500 mm and that its central tangent of contact extend at an angle beta of about 55° to the horizontal, e) that the neck surface (14) have a radius of curva- ture (KR4) of about 50 mm and that its highest point lie in the peripheral upper rim (9), and f) that the backrests (2, 3) are profiled identically on both narrow sides (10, 11).
