ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A charging system is provided for alternatively charging cells having different physical sizes and/or electrical characteristics. The charging system includes a charge current source and a plurality of cellholder modules, with electrical terminals being provided on the charge current source and the modules for selective alternative connection of each of the modules to the charge current source. Each module has an electrical circuit including one or more diodes for preventing inadvertent discharge of cells placed in the module.
