REFERENCE VOLTAGE GENERATOR DEVICE Abstract of the Disclosure A battery checker for checking a battery voltage consists of a differential amplifier including first and second insulated gate field-effect transistors (IGFETs) which have a difference of threshold voltages correspond- ing to a difference of Fermi levels of gate electrodes thereof. Both the gate electrodes of these IGFETs are made of an identical semiconductor material, while different from each other in the conductivity types of the identical semiconductor material. The gate electrode of the first IGFET is used as a first input terminal of the differential amplifier and the gate electrode of the second IGFET is used as a second input terminal of the differential amplifier. This amplifier has an output terminal for deriving an output signal in response to a potential difference between the first and second input terminals, and also has an input offset corresponding to the difference of threshold voltages. The first input terminal of the amplifier has the voltage of the battery applied thereto. The second input terminal of the amplifier has a reference potential applied thereto, whereby an output signal in response to a potential difference between the battery voltage and said input offset of the amplifier is derived at its output terminal. The device represents improvements in relation to reduced temperature variations and dependence on small manufacturing tolerances.
