A battery electrolyte solution contains from 0.01 to 80% by weight of an aromatic phosphorus compound. The aromatic phosphorus compound provides increased thermal stability for the electrolyte, helping to reduce thermal degradation, thermal runaway reactions and the possibility of burning. The aromatic phosphorus compound has little adverse impact on the electrical properties of the battery, and in some cases actually improves battery performance.

L'invention concerne une solution d'électrolyte de batterie qui contient 0,01 à 80 % en poids d'un composé de phosphore aromatique. Le composé de phosphore aromatique procure une augmentation de la stabilité thermique de l'électrolyte qui contribue à réduire la dégradation thermique, les réactions d'emballement thermique et les risques d'inflammation. Le composé de phosphore aromatique a peu de répercussions négatives sur les propriétés électriques des batteries et, dans certains cas, il améliore même les performances des batteries.
