A battery holder which is pivotable, about a pivot arranged in an apparatus housing, from an operating position to a battery replacement position, at least one battery being clamped between electrical contacts in the operating position, whilst the battery is not subject to clamping between the electrical contacts in the replace- ment position. During the pivoting of the holder from the replacement position towards the operating position, the contact force exerted on the battery by the electrical contacts is gradually built up.
