The invention relates to a battery sheath made of a cold-rolled sheet which has been submitted to a forming process, as well as to a method for producing battery sheaths. According to said method, a coating composed of Ni, Co, Fe, Sn, In, Pd, Bi or alloys thereof is applied onto at least one side of a cold- rolled narrow strip in an electroplating bath, e.g. in a Watts bath. Said electroplating bath also contains electrically conducting particles, for instance carbon, soot, graphite, TiS2, TaS2, MoSi2. Said particles are deposited onto the starting material at the same time as Ni, Co, Fe, Sn, In, Pd, Bi or alloys thereof, during the plating process. The sheet side exhibiting the electroplating layer containing, e.g., carbon, is preferably located inside during the forming process carried out for producing the battery sheath. Batteries provided with sheaths produced in this manner exhibit, compared to known batteries, a lesser increase in their intrinsic resistance, even in case of prolonged storage.

L'invention concerne une gaine de pile constituée de tôle laminée à froid et ayant subi un formage, ainsi qu'un procédé de production de gaines de piles. Selon ce procédé, un revêtement en Ni, Co, Fe, Sn, In, Pd, Bi ou leurs alliages est appliqué au moins sur un côté d'un feuillard laminé à froid dans un bain galvanoplastique, par exemple dans un bain de Watts. Ce bain galvanoplastique contient en outre des particules électroconductrices, par exemple de carbone, suie, graphite, TiS¿2?, TaS¿2?, MoSi¿2?. Ces particules sont déposées sur la matériau de départ en même temps que le Ni, Co, Fe, Sn, In, Pd, Bi ou leurs alliages, lors de la galvanoplastie. Le côté de la tôle, présentant la couche galvanoplastique renfermant par ex. du carbone, est situé de préférence à l'intérieur, lors de l'opération de formage destinée à l'obtention de la gaine de pile. Les piles comportant des gaines ainsi produites présentent, par rapport aux piles connues, une moindre augmentation de leur résistance intrinsèque, même en cas de stockage prolongé.
