ABSTRACT This invention relates to the testing of batteries to ascertain their condition. According to the method of this invention, the battery in a charged condition is connected to a constant current load for a predetermined interval. The battery voltage is measured at least at the end of such interval. The apparatus provided according to the invention includes a constant current load to which the battery is connected for a predetermined interval. A volt meter is provided to measure the voltage at the end of the interval. Circuits are provided to enable the condition of the battery to be ascertained from the voltage measurement. The invention also extends to apparatus for successively testing a number of batteries including controls for connecting a fresh battery to the load and repeating the testing until all the batteries are tested.
