The protective shield (80) is spaced apart from theblunt cannula (98) and includes a bayonet arm (170), a bayonet barb (172), bay- onet lock (174) and an opening or gap (176). The injection site (36) has a septum (52) with a pre-slit opening (66) and an arm (76). When the cannula assembly (82) and injection site (36) are coupled, the injection site arm (76) is lodged with- in the cannula assembly lock (174).
