ABSTRACT There is disclosed a laser beam delivery apparatus comprising a laser having an axis, a first mirror at one end of the laser and adapted to reflect the beam normal to the laser axis, a second mirror aligned with the first mirror, the second mirror adapted to reflect the beam along a further axis, a telescopic means joining the first and second mirrors, a third mirror aligned with the second mirror and a focusing means associated with the third mirror for focusing the beam on a workpiece. Also disclosed is a sensing means for sensing the distance of a focusing head of a laser delivery system above a workpiece to be subjected to the action of the laser beam.
