ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bearing is formed into a ring-shaped configuration in which a mounting base portion and a bearing portion which supports a shaft define an L- shaped cross section. The center of the bearing portion in the axial direction of the shaft is set at a position which is superimposed on the base portion in the axial direction, or in close proximity to the position of the base portion in the axial direction. The bearing is manufactured first by subjecting a flat plate to burring work to form a ring-shaped bearing blank in which the mounting base portion and the bearing portion define an L-shaped configuration, and then subsequently compression-molding the bearing portion of the bearing blank into prescribed dimensions in the axial direction.
