BUTTERWORTH Abstract The incorporation of a bearing and a seal on the actuator piston of the slide valve assembly of a screw compressor, The bearing accepts rotational or radial loads on the piston that tend to skew the piston in the cylinder, by centering the piston within the cylinder. The seal maintains a hydraulic fluid seal between the piston and the cylinder. The bearing and the seal further act to dampen vibration of the piston.
