ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A marine propulsion device comprising a gearcase, a propeller shaft supported by the gearcase for rotation about an axis and adapted to support a propeller, a gear including a hub coaxial with the propeller shaft, first and second axially adjacent bearings located between the hub and the gearcase and supporting the hub for rotation about the axis, and a clutch for drivingly connecting the bevel gear to the propeller shaft.
