ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bearing bushing for the journal bearings of rail vehicles, is formed of a part-circular segmental bearing mem- ber and arranged in a journal bearing box above an axle, the journal bearing box retaining underneath the axle a lubricating pad which receives lubricant from an oil sump and serves to lubricate a rotating axle journal extending into the journal bearing box. The bearing bushing comprises a tinned support body having a plurality of dovetail-shaped grooves transverse to the axle journal and a bearing bushing segment of white metal having an external surface cast into the dovetail-shaped grooves and an internal surface bearing on the axle journal, groove-shaped depressions being formed in the internal surface of the bearing bushing segment generally below the dovetail- shaped grooves. Additional grooves are provided in the inter- nal surface between each two neighboring groove-shaped depres- sions and parallel to the groove-shaped depressions, the ad- ditional grooves having dimensions substantially corresponding to the groove-shaped depressions. The groove-shaped depres- sions and the additional grooves act to collect lubricant, thereby enhancing formation of a lubricating film between the bearing bushing segment and the axle journal.
