ABSTRACT Bearings for the large diameter cylindrical body of a lift pump are disclosed. Each bearing comprises a carriage pivotably mounted on a steel ball for limited pivotal movement. The carriage rotatably supports two roller bearings which contact a wear ring mounted on the cylindrical body and thus support the cylindrical body for rotation. The ability of the carriage and rollers to pivot permits the bearing to self- align to irregularities in the cylindrical body. Preferably there are two bearings each comprising a carriage and rollers at each end of the cylindrical body. The carriages of each pair of bearings are mutually inclined in opposite senses.
