ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bearing unit for a rotary element such as an automobile wheel in- cluding an inner bearing ring, a flange, and a brake element such as a drum or disc formed as an integral homogeneous unit, for example by powder pressing or by forging. This avoids the need for separate balancing and installation operations on the individual component parts, and also vastly simplifies the manufacturing, machining and finishing thereof. The rotary element is heat- treated as a unit its various portions being subjected to the same or differ- ent heat treatment as desired.
