ABSTRACT A knockdown platform or storage bed employs single or double rows of U-shaped channel members to join laterally opposed side boards through a detachable coupling at opposed ends of the channel members, to receivers fixed to the inside of the side boards at longitudinally spaced positions and at both ends. The channel members are provided with C-shaped slots to each side slidably receiving insertable panels to form with the channel members a planar mattress support. The side boards act in conjunction with end boards to define via a side board ladder frame and through other U-shaped channel members a support system for drawers slidably insertable through the open ladder frame, to create a storage bed. The panels are sized to the slidably insertable drawers to function as covers, overlying the drawers when the drawers are removed. The couplings include pivotable, overcenter latches mounted to the interior of the U-shaped channel members at their ends.
