ABSTRACT BED HEIGHT MEASUREMENT Bed height measurement device is provided by means of television camera monitoring the bed in a kraft recovery boiler and generating a signal, that is digitized and ana- llyzed by suitable computer means to discriminate the outline of the surface of the char bed. This outline may then be compared with a pre-set bed profile to provide a non- subjective indication of the shape of the bed. Automatic controls may also be provided to regulate the bed shape, maintain the said outline within a pre-determined distance from said pre-determined profile.
