Apparatus and method for making beer. A pressure vessel is made of two separable portions which have a removable seal placed therebetween. A spigot is positioned in the lower one of the two separable portions. An inert gas producing cylinder is mounted on the pressure vessel to maintain the mixture in the vessel under pressure. A pressure relief valve maintains the pressure vessel at the appropriate pressure.
