A belt cooling and guiding apparatus and method for cooling a casting belt of a twin belt caster (10). The cooling and guiding apparatus comprises at least one nozzle (30) having a support surface (46) facing a reverse surface of the casting belt (11, 12) provided with a continuous slot (31, 42, 84) in the support surface arranged transversely substantially completely across the casting belt. The slot allows for delivery of coolingliquid to the reverse surface of the belt in the form of a continuous film having uniform thickness and velocity of flow when considered in the transverse direction of the belt. This allows for even cooling transversely of the belt.
L'invention concerne un appareil de guidage et de refroidissement à courroies, et un procédé permettant de couler une bande de machine à couler à deux courroies. Cet appareil de guidage et de refroidissement comprend au moins une buse dotée d'une surface de support opposée à la surface opposée de la courroie de coulée, une fente continue étant ménagée dans ladite surface de support et agencée transversalement sensiblement totalement sur la courroie de coulée. La fente permet de distribuer un liquide de refroidissement sur la surface opposée de la courroie sous forme d'un film continu d'épaisseur uniforme, et s'écoulant rapidement lorsqu'on considère le sens transversal de la courroie, ce qui permet un refroidissement uniforme transversal de ladite courroie.
