A method of manufacturing a belt 1 for an elevator system is proposed that has the following steps: Manufacturing of a first belt part 2, that has an arrangement of grooves 2.1, in particular in the lengthwise direction of the belt; arrangement of a tension bearer 3 in a groove of the arrangement; and connection of a second belt part 4 with the first belt part 2 in such manner that the tension bearer 3 is accommodated in the interior of the belt 1.
