ABSTRACT A belt for wet presses of papermaking machines, in particular with an extended compression slit, has a flexible belt layer impermeable to liquids and smooth on its back side and with a support track such as a fabric, knit or a wire- link belt being integrated but only in part on the front side of the belt layer which furthermore contains longitudinal threads extending in the direction of advance. The longi- tudinal threads essentially extend between the support track and the back side of the belt, and are linked in traction- proof manner at their ends. The longitudinal threads may con- sist of at least one single thread wound in coiling manner in the direction of advance and progressing transversely to that direction.
