In a belt sanding machine, especially well adapted for sanding wooden frames having transverse and longitudinal wooden pieces, a support table in the form of an endless belt transports the frames in an advancement direction, a transverse sanding assembly with a transversely moving sanding belt extending over the width of the support table sands the entire tops of frames, and two longitudinal sanding assemblies, located behind the transverse sanding assembly in the advancement direction, respectively sand the two longitudinal wooden pieces of each frame, with each longitudinal sanding assembly having a longitudinally moving sanding belt with a width very small in comparison to the width of the table, and with at least one of the longitudinal sanding assemblies being adjustable transversely of the advancement direction to allow the spacing of the longitudinal sanding assemblies to be set to match the spacing of the longitudinal frame pieces.
