ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A simple belt tensioning device includes a lever defined by elongated parallel sides and rollers extending between the ends and middles of the sides, one end roller pressing against the belt; a stand connected to the central roller for pivotally supporting the lever; and a helical spring connecting the other end roller to the stand between the ends thereof. The stand includes a first leg connected to the central roller and inclined with respect to the vertical, and a second leg connected to and defining an acute angle with respect to the first leg. The length of the first leg can be changed to adjust belt tension.
