ABSTRACT A bulk belt conveyor has a boom joined to an upright framework or leg by a bend unit. In this bend unit the carrying run of the belt of the conveyor is supported by a train of turning rollers with the top part of the train fixedly supported along a curve while the lower part of the train is in the form of a flexible tail, the tail han- ging downwards under its own weight when the boom is in a lower position, and being supported along a curved line, for bending the carrying belt of the conveyor, when the boom luffed into an upper end or resting position. For sup- porting the tail of the train in its curved position it is possible for the tail to be made up of links withoutwardly running stops of wedge like form on one side of the tail for limiting bending of the tail. It is furthermore possible, however, for the downwardly hanging framework at the end of the run to have a ramp for supporting the rollers of the tail by way of trunnions at the ends thereof, the ramp underlapping the tail step by step as the boom is luffed upwards.
