Abstract Benzamide derivatives of the general formula Image (I) wherein X represents a halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl or C3-4-alkyl group and Y represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a nitro group, N-oxides and acid addition salts thereof as well as a process for the manufacture same are described. These benzamide derivatives have a useful monoaminooxidase inhibiting activity.
