RAN 4008/320 Abstract There are presented pyrazolobenzazepines of the formulas Image and Image wherein R1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R2 and R3 are hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxy C2 to C7 alkyl, C2 to C7 carboxylic acid esters and amides or the group COR11 wherein R11 is alkoxy, amino or mono- lower alkyl amino; R6 is nitro or halo having an atomic number not greater than 35, R5 is hydrogen or halo having an atomic number not greater than 35 and n is 0 or 1 and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. These pyrazolobenzazepines are useful as anxiolytic and sedative aqents. Also provided are processes and intermediates in the production of the above pyrazolobenzazepines.
