Novel benzazepine derivative of the formula [1]: Image wherein R1 is H or halogen, A is lower alkylene, R2 and R3 are the same or different and each represent H, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl having optionally a lower alkoxy substituent, etc., or R2 and R3 may combine together with the nitrogen to which they bond to form a 5- to 7-membered saturated heterocyclic group which may optionally be substituted by a lower alkyl, etc., R4 is H, lower alkyl, OH, etc., R5 is -NHR6 (R6 is lower alkyl) or pyrrolidinyl, or a salt thereof, which show excellent anti-vasopressin activity, oxytocin antagonistic activity and vasopressin agonistic activity, and are useful as a vasopressin antagonist, a vasopressin agonist and an oxytocin antagonist.

L'invention porte sur de nouveaux dérivés de la benzazépine de formule (1) dans laquelle: R<1> est H ou halogène; A est alkylène inférieur; R<2> et R<3> sont identiques ou différents, chacun des H, alkoxy inférieur et alkyle inférieur présentant facultativement un substituant alkyle inférieur, etc., ou bien R<2> et R<3> peuvent se combiner ensemble ou avec l'azote auquel ils se fixent pour former un groupe hétérocyclique saturé à 5 à 7 éléments et qui peut être facultativement substitué par un alkyle inférieur etc.; R<4> est H, alkyle inférieur, OH, etc.; R<5> est -NHR<6> (R<6> étant alkyle inférieur) ou pyrrolidinyle, ou l'un de leurs sels. Lesdit dérivés et sels présentent une excellente activité anti-vasopressine, une activité d'antagoniste de l'oxytocine, une activité d'agoniste de la vasopressine, et s'avérent utiles comme antagonistes de la vasopressine, comme agonistes de la vasopressine et comme antagonistes de l'oxytocine.
